Surau Tarbiah is an edifice that has become a simple rudimentary structure, designed to express a modest yet refined modern assembly place for the community located at Lot 58599, Jalan Cheras.
The Surau represents a seamless, close relationship between light, wind and other natural element. This is an expression of the essential elements that exist in our lives. It is also to bring people closer to the environment where green elements surround the Surau as a way to inform the public on sustainable architecture. Surau Tarbiah is a prayer and an educational space for the community.
The core of Surau Tarbiah is the Main Prayer Hall (Ruang Solat Utama and Ruang Solat Wanita) that holds up to 800-1000 persons together with the outdoor Verandah space. As a Tarbiyah, classrooms are located next to the prayer halls where classes are conducted for the children of the community for Islamic studies. A symbolic minaret marks its intended use as a place of worship, refuge and activity centre for the Muslim community.
